Features & Benefits

Molasses is a unique material and it can be a very beneficial input on your farm to promote health and vitality of your soil. Molasses provides an effective, available source of carbon energy and carbohydrates to feed and stimulate the growth of beneficial microorganisms so your soil life will flourish to create greater natural soil fertility.

Not only can molasses provide a food (sugar) source for microbes, but it also contains many trace and ultra trace minerals. This is a critical factor because a balanced and consistent supply of trace minerals is essential for microbes to survive and thrive. The micro-nutrients and other nutrients contained in molasses are available for quick uptake by your plants, simply because they are derived from a plant. This is especially important for the microbes that depend on trace minerals as catalysts in order to produce enzymes that enable critical biochemical transformations.

Molasses also works as a chelating agent, or organic stimulant, to convert the soil’s tied-up nutrients into a form that’s easily available to plants. Chelated minerals can be absorbed directly and remain available and stable in the soil. Chelates are known for their ability to unlock the potential of fertilizers, and many farmers are successfully using chelating agents, like Molasses, to increase efficiency of their current fertilizer and make dramatic cuts in normal levels of fertilizer application requirements.

How Should I Use Molasses?

Add molasses to all your planting, foliar and soil conditioning solutions to provide a natural source of sugar and trace minerals. Be aware that when adding molasses to your spray solutions, because of its biolocically activating properties, it can cause certain components in your spray solutions to “grow”. Knowing this, it is unwise to leave a spray solution containing molasses and any microbial inoculant in your sprayer for more than 8 hours as doing so could cause clogging of your spray nozzles. Always clean your spray equipment thoroughly after each use.

What's In Molasses?

Black Strap Molasses is the final byproduct of the third boiling cycle in the sugar making process. Of all the varieties of molasses, black strap contains the least sugar and has the highest concentration of vitamins and minerals. Black strap molasses contains carbohydrates, nutrients, and micro-nutrients such as potassium, sulfur and many other essential trace minerals. We offer both certified organic and non-GMO versions of this popular bio-stimulant.
